Pont-sur-Sambre is a French commune with 3,163 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe and the canton of Aulnoye-Aymeries (until 2015: canton of Berlaimont ). The inhabitants are called Pontois .
geography
The municipality is located about eleven kilometers southwest of Maubeuge in the Avesnois Regional Nature Park on the Sambre . Pont-sur-Sambre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Hargnies in the north, Vieux-Mesnil in the northeast, Boussières-sur-Sambre in the east and northeast, Saint-Remy-du-Nord in the east, Bachant in the south and southeast, Aulnoye-Aymeries in the South and southwest, Berlaimont in the southwest and Locquinol in the west and southwest.
