Mairieux is a commune in the French department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Maubeuge ( canton Maubeuge-Nord until 2015 ) in the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe . It borders on Bettignies to the northwest , Bersillies to the northeast, Élesmes to the east, Maubeuge to the south and Gognies-Chaussée to the west . The residents call themselves Mairieusiens .
