Petit-Fayt is a commune in the French region of Hauts-de-France , in the Nord department , in the arrondissement of Avesnes-sur-Helpe and in the canton of Avesnes-sur-Helpe ( canton Avesnes-sur-Helpe-Sud until 2015 ). The inhabitants call themselves Fagusiens or Fagusiennes. Neighboring municipalities are Grand-Fayt in the north-west, Marbaix in the north, Dompierre-sur-Helpe and Saint-Hilaire-sur-Helpe in the north-east, Cartignies in the south-east, Beaurepaire-sur-Sambre in the south and Prisches in the south-west.
