Karl Michael Oertel

Karl Michael Oertel (born January 29, 1866 in Forchheim , † April 4, 1900 in Nuremberg ) was the owner of a book printer and a member of the German Reichstag .
Life
Oertel attended elementary school, Latin school and the Gombuch commercial teaching institute in Nuremberg. He learned the trade and then worked as a clerk and accountant. In 1884 he became a member of the SPD. Since 1895 he was the owner of the publishing house and the printing works of the Franconian Daily Mail . On December 2, 1897, he was elected in the by-election in place of the late Karl Grillenberger for the constituency Middle Franconia 1 (Nuremberg) in the Reichstag, to which he belonged until his death. There he was a member of the Military Criminal Justice Commission. From 1899 he was also a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies . He had been a member of the social democratic party leadership since 1893.
In 1898 he fell ill with a nervous disease that led to his death in 1900. He was buried in the Nuremberg West Cemetery next to the memorial for Karl Grillenberger.
