Karl newborn

Karl Neugeboren (born April 1, 1789 in Sibiu , Transylvania , † September 6, 1861 in Sibiu) was a Transylvanian lawyer and historian.

Karl Neugeboren was the son of the Evangelical Bishop Daniel Georg Neugeboren ; the theologian Johann Ludwig was his younger brother.

Newborn studied law at the University of Vienna . After graduating, he got a job in the administration of his hometown. There his career took him up to the magistrate and district inspector . In 1850 he was appointed to the Higher Regional Court Commission and there he later advanced to the Higher Regional Court Council .

Already interested in history during his studies, Neugeboren founded the "Society for Transylvanian Cultural Studies" together with friends and like-minded people in Sibiu . In this association, newborns held various offices and promoted him until the end of his life. Interest in his homeland also extended to politics. Therefore, between 1833 and 1838, Neugeboren published the magazine "Transsilvania" in Sibiu .
