Karl Nováček
Karl Nováček (also Karel Nováček ; born July 12, 1864 or 1868 in Fehértemplom , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary ; † 1929 ) was a Czech cellist, military bandmaster and conductor.
The son of the composer Martin Nováček learned to play the cello as a child and became a cellist at the age of nine in the string quartet that his father had founded with two of his brothers. At a concert in the house of the composer Géza Zichy in 1881 he played two pieces by David Popper with his father .
From 1890 to 1893 he was the military bandmaster of the 61st Infantry Regiment in Peterwardein, then of the 71st Infantry Regiment in Erlau. After all, he was first cellist at the Royal Opera in Budapest until his retirement . His brothers Ottokar , Rudolf and Victor Nováček also became known as musicians.
