Karl Otto Ehrenfried Ferdinand Wollenhaupt (born February 21, 1805 in Sulau ( Militsch district ), † June 18, 1873 in Glogau ) was royal Prussian major general and most recently the commandant of Graudenz and Glogau.

origin

His parents were Ferdinand Sylvius Heinrich Wollenhaupt (* May 6, 1780; † January 10, 1841) and his wife Johanna Maria Steiter (* June 30, 1781; † October 31, 1846). His father was a captain a. D. from the 11th Infantry Regiment, he was also mayor of Sulau and fire society rendant .

Life

Wollenhaupt joined the 27th Infantry Regiment on April 6, 1822 as a musketeer . There he was promoted to portepeef ensign on February 6, 1823, and to second lieutenant on December 18, 1823. On April 8, 1827 he was transferred to the 18th Infantry Regiment, where he was promoted to Premier-Lieutenant on June 15, 1841. This was followed by his assignment to a training battalion on April 1, 1847. After his return he was promoted to captain in mid-April 1848 and deployed as a company commander in the 18th Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to major in mid-1854. On May 31, 1859, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, on October 13, 1861, he was commandant of the Graudenz fortress and, in addition, à la suite of the 18th Infantry Regiment. He got the character of a colonel on October 18, 1861 . He received his patent for this on November 12, 1861 and was simultaneously appointed commander of the Glogau fortress . He received the Order of the Red Eagle III on January 1, 1867 . Class with bow and was on 14 March 1868 the character as a major general and a board for discussion provided. He died on June 18, 1873 in Glogau.

The Count von Waldersee wrote in his assessment in 1847: A real military character, who combines a mature service experience with a lot of healthy natural understanding, by virtue of which he promises to be a very reliable and prudent campaign manager and is recommended for promotion outside of the tour.

family

Wollenhaupt married Berta Friederike Emilie Dalkowski (* January 6, 1813, † September 5, 1876) in Bromberg on May 8, 1834 , a daughter of the secret judge and higher regional judge Georg Jakob Dalkowski . The couple had several children, two sons and a daughter who died young. It survived:

  • Friedrich Wilhelm (born December 15, 1837), emigrated to the USA
  • Marie (* July 8, 1841) ∞ Gustav Lenhartz (* May 14, 1841 - May 8, 1896), pastor, son of Gustav Lenhartz
