Karl Puth
Karl Puth (born March 9, 1891 in Berlin , † October 21, 1955 in Potsdam ) was a German cameraman .
Life
He trained as a chef and completed a commercial apprenticeship, but eventually became a photographer. After participating in the First World War , he started working for Joe May's production company May-Film in 1919 as a camera assistant .
From 1922 he worked as head cameraman, initially for May, but soon for various clients. In the mid-20s he was considered a specialist in the Schüfftan process . Occasionally he also worked abroad; he shot his first sound film White Cargo in Great Britain in 1928/29.
In the Third Reich , Puth remained active and was called in for a number of representative tasks, including additional and mass scenes in the propaganda film Ohm Krüger (1941). After the end of the war he was only able to continue his profession in the service of DEFA from 1953 .
