Karl Rubner

Karl Rubner (born August 1, 1901 in Königsberg an der Eger ; † March 16, 1988 ) was a German social democrat, trade unionist and resistance fighter against National Socialism .

As a miner in Merkstein near Aachen ( Wurmrevier ), Rubner was politically interested and active from an early age. He became a member of the SPD and after the " seizure of power " in 1933 worked in the resistance for the illegal miners' union in the Wurmrevier.

In 1938 Rubner went into exile in Belgium and later in France. After the Second World War he became a leading member of the Aachen community of politically persecuted social democrats and a member of the first appointed state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia under Ernst Gnoss .
