Karl Saur (senior building officer)

Karl Saur (* approx. 1901 in Essen ; † June 27, 1978 in Bielefeld ) was a German civil engineer .

Life

Saur studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Hanover until 1927 . He worked briefly as a production engineer before teaching at evening schools in Hanover. In 1933 he had to quit this activity "for political reasons". He later went to Berlin as a test engineer at various companies. In 1941 he started his own business there until his office was bombed out. As a result, Saur moved to Bad Wilsnack , where he was elected mayor in 1945 and founded and headed a secondary school in 1946. In 1950 he left the GDR and set up an engineering office in Bielefeld.

In 1956 he began as a lecturer at the State Engineering School in Hanover , where he was appointed building officer a year later and in 1964 senior building officer. He worked there until 1967.

Saur married in 1959. One of his two sons, Karl-Friedrich Saur, was rector of the Lippe University of Applied Sciences in Lemgo .
