Karl Schirra (born October 16, 1928 , † September 12, 2010 ) was a German football player who was active for the Saarland national team .

Career

society

He played from 1950 to 1953 for Borussia Neunkirchen , which at that time was just a newcomer to the then Oberliga Südwest . In 1953 he then moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken. There he played, among other things, on August 15, 1954 in the first round of the DFB Cup in the defeat against Altona 93 , as well as in the first group of the first European Cup against AC Milan in 1955 . Here the first leg was won 3: 4; with the interim 3: 3 by himself. The second leg in Saarbrücken was lost 4-1.

National team

In the national team he came on a total of 6 missions. He received his first assignment on November 22, 1950, when he was in the starting line-up in a 5: 3 friendly win against the Swiss national team . He was also used on March 28, 1954 in the World Cup qualifier against the German team . However, he was unable to score in any of his games.
