Karl Schmitzer

Karl Schmitzer (born April 22, 1926 in Afing ; † October 19, 2011 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician and technical school director. From 1970 to 1981 he was a member of the National Council .

After completing compulsory school, Karl Schmitzer attended the Francisco Josephinum Federal Agricultural College . On January 17, 1944, Karl Schmitzer, who then lived in Wieselburg, applied for membership in the NSDAP , which took place on April 20, 1944. The historian Michael Wladika therefore concludes that Schmitzer is a member of the Hitler Youth . From 1948 to 1960 worked as a teacher at agricultural vocational schools. Schmitzer was named engineer. In 1960 he switched to teaching at the agricultural college in Pyhra , where he took over the position of director in 1965. In the political field, Schmitzer was involved as a local councilor in Pyhra, where he also took over the office of vice mayor in 1972. He was also active within the party as the ÖVP local party chairman and acted as an agricultural policy advisor to the federal management of the ÖAAB . Schmitzer represented the ÖVP between March 31, 1970 and June 9, 1981 in the National Council. His son Werner was mayor of the Pyhra community (St. Pölten-Land district) for several years.
