Karl Schneider (born May 4, 1942 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The striker initially played for four years (1961 to 1965) in the Oberliga, later Regionalliga Süd for Bayern Munich . With 15 goals in 61 games, he was relatively successful and made it to the top division for the 1965/66 season . With strikers like Dieter Brenninger , Rudolf Nafziger , Rainer Ohlhauser and, last but not least, Gerd Müller , Bayern Munich was more than well staffed in attack - and so Schneider neither got past them nor played. It was almost like defender Manfred Mokosch and the two attackers Günter Kaussen and Ramiro Blacut , who left the club in 1966 - also without a game. Schneider, however, had his game for Bayern in the qualifying game for participation in the DFB Cup competition on January 2, 1966. In the 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund , he played alongside Franz Beckenbauer as the right central defender . Schneider was a member of the TSV Schwaben Augsburg squad in 1966/67 , with whom he finished 9th in the table at the end of the season.
