Karl Sevelda (born January 31, 1950 ) is an Austrian bank manager . From 2013 to March 2017, he was CEO of Raiffeisen Bank International .

education

From 1968 Sevelda studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . He graduated in 1973 with a master's degree in social and economic sciences . In the following years, up to 1976, he conducted freelance research activities for the Federal Ministry for Science and Research and the Federal Ministry for Trade, Commerce and Industry - he was also an employee of the Economic Policy Institute. In 1980 Sevelda received her doctorate in social and economic sciences.

Professional background

From 1977 to 1983 Sevelda was a consultant for commercial loans and export finance at Creditanstalt-Bankverein , from 1983 to 1985 he was economic policy director of the office of the Federal Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Norbert Steger . In 1985 he went to banks in Great Britain and the United States . After his return in 1986 he moved again to the Creditanstalt banking association. Until privatization in 1997, he worked there as the main department head for export finance, as deputy head of the finance division, as head of the international corporations and insurance division and as head of the corporate customers division. In 1998 Sevelda moved to Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich and was a member of the board there. As this he was responsible for the business areas “Corporate Banking and Corporate” and “Trade and Export Finance” worldwide. Between 2010 and 2013 he was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Raiffeisen Bank International . After Herbert Stepic resigned , Karl Sevelda was CEO of Raiffeisen Bank International from June 7, 2013. His contracts lasted until 2017. In March 2017, Johann Strobl succeeded him as CEO of Raiffeisen Bank International.

Private

Sevelda is married for the second time, has a daughter from her first marriage and a grandchild. He has three siblings, one of his two brothers is the gynecologist and president of the Austrian Cancer Aid, Paul Sevelda .

Politically, he was always liberal. He was one of the founding members of the Liberal Forum around Heide Schmidt and, in addition to his banking job, was a speaker at the “Landesforum Wien”. Today Sevelda sympathizes with the newly founded NEOS party - The New Austria and Liberal Forum .

From June 11th to 14th, 2015 he took part in the 63rd Bilderberg Conference in Telfs-Buchen , Austria .
