Karl Seyffahrt (also: Car (o) l, Sef (f) art, Seyffardt ; born January 17, 1630 in Halle (Saale) ; † July 16, 1681 in Gröbzig ) was a German Lutheran theologian and poet .

Life

Born as the son of the Halle Pfänner Liborius Seyfahrt, he attended the grammar school in his hometown and studied from July 29, 1650 at the University of Wittenberg . In Wittenberg he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree , became a pastor in Peißen and Lependorf in 1656 and a pastor in Gröbzig in 1662, where he died after doing poetic and theological work.

In addition to various funeral sermons , the Poetic Glückstopf was published in 1671 , which is a collection of various topics. It contains epigrams, riddles and various poems that take up funny, sad and nasty topics from history and his time. Although the work was criticized in its time as undignified and simple-minded, the verse satire Wunderliches Jungfer-Leben contained in it experienced several editions. In addition, two sacred poems are contained in the collection Poetisches Geistliches Sion , which appeared in Eisleben in 1673. In the German-minded cooperative he was called "Der Mühsame".
