Karl Sophronius Philipp von Wartensleben

Karl Sophron Philipp von Wartensleben (born September 21, 1680 ; † October 7, 1751 in Dorth Castle near Deventer ), Count von Flodrop, was a Saxon cabinet minister and founder of the short-lived line between Wartensleben and Flodorp .

He was the son of Field Marshal Alexander Hermann von Wartensleben (1650–1734) and his wife Sophie Dorothea von May (1655–1684).

He attended the universities of Utrecht and Leipzig. After his cavalier tour he first went to the service of the Prussian King Friedrich I. In 1703 he sent him to the Swedish court as an envoy. In 1704 he was accepted into the Order of St. John .

In 1728 he became cabinet minister in Saxony under August II. The king rewarded his services with the Order of the White Eagle . After the king's death in 1733, he retired from civil service to live at his castle in Dorth.

On March 19, 1706, he married the wealthy Countess von Floodrop, Jeannette Marguerite Huyssen van Kattendijke (1691-1724). The couple had the following children:

  • Carl Friedrich († April 2, 1751), Dutch general and adjutant general of Prince Wilhelm ⚭ 1733 Wendelina Cornera Alberda (1713 - March 4, 1746) from the Menkema family
  • Amalie (1715–1787) ⚭ Heinrich IX. Reuss to Köstritz (1711–1780)
