The Reischeltal is a 3.5 kilometer long valley in the western part of the Thuringian Slate Mountains on the border with the Thuringian Forest in the southern Ilm district . The Reischelbach , a tributary of the Oelze, flows through the Reischeltal .

geography

The Reischetal extends between the villages of Großbreitenbach , Altenfeld and Neustadt am Rennsteig in an arc around the mountain Haube located south of the valley at a height of 811  m above sea level. NHN . In the north the Reischelberg borders with a height of 821  m above sea level. NHN to the valley.

The southern part of the Reischeltal forms part of the natural boundary between the Thuringian Forest and the Thuringian Slate Mountains from the height of the Totenweg to the entrance to Altenfeld, where the valley flows into the Oelze valley basin . A side valley of the Reischeltal is the Vaterunsertal .

particularities

The approx. 21 km long Pilzsteig nature trail begins at the Mondscheinwiese above the Reischeltal valley near Neustadt am Rennstg , which then leads through part of the Reischel valley to Gehren .
