Roberto Contreras

Roberto Contreras (born December 12, 1928 in St. Louis , Missouri , † July 18, 2000 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Contreras began his acting career in the mid-1950s. As a Hispanic American , he mostly portrayed Mexicans , often in the western genre . His first film roles included the portrayal of Carlos in The Curse of Monte Bravo . First of all, he then mostly had the smallest supporting roles without naming their names in the credits, among others in the films Stolen Gold , The Magnificent Seven and Alvarez Kelly . He also played guest roles in television series such as Maverick , A Thousand Miles of Dust and West of Santa Fé . He first became famous with the American television audience from 1967 as Pedro in the western series High Chaparral , a role he played in 59 episodes until 1971. After the series ended, he continued to appear as a guest in various series formats until the 1980s and had a small film role in Scarface , among others . He stood in front of the camera three times with his son Luis Contreras , in Fred Schepisi's Die Ballad vom Banditen Barbarossa , in the action film Blue City produced by Walter Hill and in Blood in, Blood out - Conspirators for life and death .
