The Gold of the Seven Mountains is a 1960 American western directed by Gordon Douglas and starring Clint Walker and Roger Moore . The plot follows a novel by Steve Frazee .

Shaun and Jim are trappers in the wild west. By chance, the two of them find a huge amount of gold that they want to bring to Seven Saints on a packhorse . Unfortunately, the horse dies on the way, so Shaun rides to the next town to get a new one. However, when he tries to steal a horse, he is caught, but can buy his way out of the booty with a gold nugget . Jim is horrified because now a farmer and a lot of gangsters have heard of their luck and are trying to steal their new fortune from Jim and Shaun. The two go on the run.

The outdoor filming took place in Utah , near the city of Moab, Utah , where uranium was found a few years earlier , resulting in a camping town of around 4,000 people.
