Leonard Freeman
Leonard Freeman (born October 31, 1920 in Sonoma County , California , USA , † January 20, 1974 in Palo Alto , California, USA) was an American film and television producer, screenwriter , director and actor .
Life
Freeman became known as the creator of the American crime series Hawaii Five-Zero , which ran from 1968 to 1980 and comprised 12 seasons and 279 episodes. Also in the remake Hawaii Five-0 , which has been running since 2010 with 10 seasons and 224 episodes so far (2019), Freeman is recognized as a creator in the credits . He also wrote and produced the television series Route 66 and was involved in the script for Hang Him Up .
Freeman died in 1974 during Hawaii Five-Zero Season 6 after complications from heart surgery . His wife Joan Taylor , who took over his production company Leonard Freeman Productions after his death and produced the television series Hawaii Five-Zero until 1980 , survived him by 38 years. The daughter Lisa Freeman emerged from the marriage.
