Karl Spreng

Karl Spreng (born June 14, 1904 in Groß-Gerau ; † January 11, 1982 ) was a judge at the German Federal Court of Justice from 1956 to 1972 .

Before taking the second state examination in law in 1932 , he completed an apprenticeship in banking and completed a degree in economics. He also received his doctorate in 1932. phil. with a work on Franz von Baader and Franz Josef von Buß . Until 1937 he worked as an assessor at Hessian courts. From 1937 local court advisor at the local court in Burgau. 1939–1945 military service. From 1948 back to work in the Bavarian judiciary, most recently as a judge at the Munich Higher Regional Court as chairman of a chamber for securities clearing . Spreng was judge at the Federal Court of Justice in 1956, first in the 1st Civil Senate , and from 1967 as chairman of the Xth Civil Senate, which is responsible for patent law . The first rulings on patenting software were made during this period . When Spreng reached the age limit, he retired in 1972. After his retirement, Spreng continued his work as a commentator on the Staudinger for a few years.
