Karl Stary

Karl Stary (* 1942 in Essen ) is a German volunteer who was recognized for his voluntary work.

Life

Karl Stary has been doing voluntary work in Essen, Düsseldorf and Gelsenkirchen for many years . His activities extend to the district military replacement office in Essen, the military area administration III Düsseldorf, the administrative court of Gelsenkirchen and the regional and district court of Essen . He has been providing voluntary care ( guardianship ) for the mentally handicapped and the mentally ill for 28 years . After a serious illness, he was given early retirement in May 2000. Nevertheless, he continues to take over care and is involved as an honorary judge at the administrative court. When a rented apartment became available in his house, he had it renovated in accordance with the preservation order and rented it to a community of mentally handicapped people who previously lived in a building in the Franz Sales House .

Awards

In 1993, Stary was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his social commitment . In December 2005 he received the Essen Citizens' Thaler from the FDP parliamentary group in the Essen City Council for his "long-term commitment to mentally and mentally ill people".
