The Steiner AG is a Swiss general contractor , general contractor and project developer based in Zurich. The company offers services in the areas of new construction, renovation and real estate development.

The group of companies has branches in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Tolochenaz, Lucerne and Mumbai. The Steiner Group achieved sales of 830.4 million Swiss francs in the 2018/19 financial year with around 600 employees.

history

The company was founded in 1915 as the carpenter's workshop Carl Steiner Schuhmacher in Zurich. In 1944, Karl Steiner became the sole owner of the joinery and from 1948 began working as a general contractor . In 1980 the company was converted into a stock corporation. With the establishment of the Sogelym-Steiner SAS joint venture in 1994, Karl Steiner AG expanded to France.

In 1995 the company introduced the Total Services Contractor (TSC) model and developed from a general contractor to a total contractor. In 2001 Karl Steiner AG sold its industrial activities. In 2004 the complete takeover of Sogelym-Steiner SAS in France with locations in Lyon, Grenoble and Paris took place. In 2006 the group of companies gave itself a holding structure.

In 2009 the real estate service was sold to the company Privera , in 2010 Sogelym-Steiner SAS in France was sold. Since May 2010 the Steiner Group belongs to the Indian Hindustan Construction Company Ltd. (HCC) and with its subsidiary Steiner India Ltd. represented in the Indian market.

Steiner AG has implemented a total of over 1,500 residential construction projects, 540 commercial properties, 45 hotels and 200 infrastructure facilities such as universities, schools, hospitals, prisons and old people's homes, including prestige projects such as the Sihlcity development , the Prime Tower and the Vulcano trio of high-rise buildings.
