Karl Tüttelmann
Karl Tüttelmann (born July 2, 1911 in Iserlohn , † 1988 in Föhr ) was a German painter and sculptor .
Live and act
Karl Tüttelmann studied after an apprenticeship as a machinist at the Nordic Art College in Bremen. In 1937 he became a member of the Reich Chamber of Fine Arts . His design of the so-called Duisberg carpet for the 700th anniversary of the city of Iserlohn in 1937 depicts the legend of the Iserlohn mayor during the Thirty Years' War and is meanwhile controversial. In 1938, 1941, 1942 and 1944 Tüttelmann took part in the " Great German Art Exhibition ". During the 2nd World War he worked as a so-called " war painter ".
In the post-war period Karl Tüttelmann can be assigned to the informal painters . In 1951/52 he received first prize for the design of an anti-war memorial in Paderborn. However, this was not implemented. Tüttelmann belonged to the “Artists' Association Ruhr-Lenne”, which from 1946 regularly organized exhibitions. From 1962 to 1988 he was a member of the Dortmund group and the West German Artists Association from 1957 to 1988. At that time, his circle of friends included Wilhelm Wessel and Irmgart Wessel-Zumloh , with whom he was on friendly terms, as well as Emil Schumacher .
Karl Tüttelmann's works are in public ownership (e.g. Osthaus Museum Hagen , Stadtmuseum Iserlohn , Martin Luther School in Iserlohn, Iserlohn Employment Agency, Museum Ostwall in Dortmunder U , Ostfriesisches Landesmuseum Emden ) and in private collections.
