Karl Theodor Friedrich Andersen (born February 1, 1898 in Nuremberg ; † 1974 ) was a German zoologist and university professor . He taught as a professor of biology in Freising and Regensburg , was head of the Institute for Zoology and Pest Research at the Weihenstephan University and from 1953 to 1959 Rector of the Philosophical-Theological University of Freising .

Life

Andersen worked from September 1, 1922 to 1925 as an assistant at the Zoological Institute of the University of Erlangen. From 1925 he taught as an associate professor for biology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Freising. At the same time he held a teaching position for zoology and pest science at the Weihenstephan University from 1925 to 1934 , where he was head of the institute for zoology and pest research. In 1938 he switched to professor of biology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Regensburg due to structural pressure from the state authorities headed by the National Socialists, who were shedding chairs at the university. In 1946/47 he returned to the PTH Freising as a full professor, where he also held the post of rector from 1953 to 1959 and was retired in 1966 .
