Theo Herzog

Karl Theodor "Theo" Herzog (born February 22, 1905 in Ingolstadt , † August 5, 1980 in Landshut ) was a German archivist and local historian .

Life

After completing a bank apprenticeship in Rottenburg an der Laaber , Herzog was a commercial clerk at the Weiß snuff factory in Landshut . In 1948 he joined the Landshut City Archives. After passing the advanced career test, he became director there. Since 1929 he was a member of the Historisches Verein Niederbayern, most recently its managing director.

Karl Theodor Herzog was married to Helene Schulze (1902–1978), a trained banker. The future Federal President Roman Herzog (1934-2017) and the physicist Theo Herzog (* 1937), from 1974 to 1996 radiation protection officer and deputy power plant manager at the Isar 1 nuclear power plant , emerged from the marriage.

Herzog published numerous books on the history of Landshut and the surrounding area.
