Theodor Herzog
Theodor Carl Julius Herzog (born July 7, 1880 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † May 6, 1961 in Jena ) was a German botanist , bryologist and university professor . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Herzog ".
Live and act
Herzog studied in Freiburg , Zurich , and Munich with Ludwig Radlkofer . He received his doctorate in Munich in 1903. In 1907 he completed his habilitation in Zurich with Carl Schroeter .
From 1914 he taught at the University of Munich, initially as a private lecturer , from 1920 as an associate professor, and in 1925 was appointed professor of special botany at the University of Jena .
Herzog undertook major research trips to Sardinia (1904 and 1906), Ceylon (1905–1906) and South America , there especially Bolivia and Northern Argentina (1907–1908, 1910–1912).
Honors
1955 awarded him the University of Greifswald , the honorary doctorate . Are named after Duke moss species Herzogiella , Herzogobryum and flowering plants genus Oreoherzogia W.Vent from the family of the cross thorn plants (Rhamnaceae).
