Karl Theodor Sonnenkalb

Karl Theodor Sonnenkalb (born April 20, 1821 in Ronneburg , † June 23, 1891 in Altenburg ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of a businessman, Sonnenkalb studied law in Jena after attending the Altenburger Friedrichgymnasium . During his studies in 1840 he became a member of the fraternity on the Fürstenkeller ; In 1846 he became an honorary member of the Germania Jena fraternity . After his exams in 1842 and 1843, after several positions as an auditor, in 1845 he became a lawyer and notary in Ronneburg. From 1858 to 1865 he was a member of the city of Ronneburg in the countryside of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg . He was also the chairman of the city council in Ronneburg. He was a member of the board of directors and chairman of the Gößnitz-Geraer Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft . In 1865 he became a judicial advisor , then a secret finance advisor . In 1866 he entered the civil service as head of the ministerial department for finances. In 1866 he became a Privy Councilor of State. He was an honorary citizen of Ronneburg and an honorary member of the trade association . In 1891 he became a real privy councilor with the title of excellence .

His brother was Carl Victor Sonnenkalb (1814–1869), a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly and Minister of Saxony-Altenburg.
