Karl Weingärtner (referee)
Karl Weingärtner (* 1890 in Offenbach am Main ; † unknown), partly also written Carl Weingärtner , was a German football referee .
Weingärtner was a member of BSC 99 Offenbach . As a referee, he headed at least eleven games in the final round of the German championship , as well as in the national cup and after the end of World War II various games in the Oberliga Süd at national level between 1924 and 1944 . At the international level, he has also led several international games , with his participation in the 1936 Summer Olympics stinging when he led the opening game between the reigning world champions Italy and the United States (1-0 for the eventual Olympic champions Italy) on August 3 in the Berlin Post Stadium , as well as in 1928 and at the World Cup finals in 1938 , when he was used as linesman . He was also used as a game director in international competitions such as the Nordic championship and the European Cup for National Teams from 1936 to 1938 .
