Karl Werdes

Karl Werdes , also: Carl (born June 21, 1872 in Leinschede ; † March 24, 1953 in Plettenberg ) was a German farmer and politician ( CNBL ).

Life

Werdes was born as the eldest son of a farmer. After attending elementary school in Pasel , he worked in agriculture, took over the parental “Plaßmannshof” in Leinschede near Plettenberg and primarily devoted himself to horse breeding. He was chairman of the Plettenberg stallion keeping cooperative, chairman of the proprietary stallion owners in the Sauerland and chairman of the Altena agricultural district association . From 1933 until the 1940s he was President of the Association of Rural Cooperatives in Münster . In addition, he was chairman of the savings and loan association in Plettenberg from its foundation in 1925 until his death.

In May 1928 Werdes was elected for the Christian National Peasant and Rural People's Party (CNBL) as a member of the Prussian state parliament, of which he was a member of the German parliamentary group until 1932 . In parliament he represented constituency 17 (Westphalia-North). In the Reichstag election in 1932 , he ran for the Reichstag on the list of the German National People's Party (DNVP) , but won no mandate.
