Karl Wigand

Karl Wolrad Ludwig Wigand (also Carl ) (born June 21, 1782 in Korbach ; † January 14, 1844 ibid) was a German doctor and mayor of Korbach.

Wigand was the son of the Councilor Justus Friedrich Wigand (1739–1789) and his wife Luise Dorothee Elisabeth von Wilmovsky (1755–1827). The long-established Wigand family had appointed the mayor of Korbach several times in the past. He studied medicine at the University of Giessen from 1810 and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. In 1816 he married Friederike Bunsen, the sister of the diplomat Christian Karl Josias von Bunsen . He lived as a general practitioner in Korbach. 1823-1825 and again 1828-1832 he was mayor of Korbach. In this function he was Waldecker Landstands .
