Karl Wilfing (politician, 1933)

Karl Wilfing Sr. (Born October 14, 1933 in Wetzelsdorf (municipality of Poysdorf) ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer . From 1983 to 1986 he was a member of the Federal Council and from 1979 to 1983 and from 1986 to 1988 a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

Wilfing attended compulsory school until 1947 and then graduated from agricultural vocational school from 1949 to 1951. He took over his parents' farm in 1960 and worked as a winegrower and farmer until 1988 . He became involved in local politics as a local councilor in Wetzelsdorf from 1965 , and in 1970 he was promoted to vice mayor. After the amalgamation of the municipalities, Wilfing acted as municipal council in Poysdorf between 1971 and 1972 . In addition, Wilfing was chamber councilor of the Lower Austrian regional chamber of agriculture from 1975 to 1980 and from 1980 deputy chairman of the Lower Austrian regional winegrowing association . Wilfing represented the ÖVP between April 19, 1979 and November 4, 1983 and from December 18, 1986 to November 17, 1988 in the Lower Austrian Landtag , in between he was a member of the Federal Council from November 4, 1983 to December 17, 1986 .

His son is the ÖVP - politicians and Lower Austrian State Parliament President , jun Karl Wilfing.
