Wilhelm Streckfuß

Karl Wilhelm Streckfuß (born November 3, 1817 in Merseburg , † November 6, 1896 in Schöneberg ) was a German history, portrait, genre and landscape painter.

Life

Streckfuß began studying at the Royal Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin in 1832, a . a. in the drawing class of Friedrich Wilhelm Herbig . Between 1836 and 1839 he studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf with Carl Sohn . From 1838 to 1892 she regularly took part in the Berlin Academy exhibitions. In 1840 he opened his own studio in Mohrenstrasse. 15 in Berlin. He was a student in Paul Delaroche's studio in Paris in 1842/43 and in Rome and southern Italy in 1843/44, after which he returned to Berlin. In 1845 there was a three-month stay in the Alps. In 1858 his textbook of perspective appeared and in the 1860s contributions to perspective in the Dioscurs . From 1868 Streckfuß was a teacher for perspective at the drawing school of the Association of Artists and Art Friends in Berlin.
