Karlheinz Hora (born June 1, 1957 in Vienna ; † August 4, 2017 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). He was a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council and from 2013 to 2016 district chairman of Leopoldstadt .

education and profession

After elementary and secondary school as well as a discontinued commercial school education, Hora began an apprenticeship as an office clerk at Baumeister Löscher & Helmer in 1973 .

After completing his apprenticeship in 1976, he worked there as a warehouse manager until 1977, and in 1978 switched to the Zentralsparkasse und Kommerzialbank Wien, where he trained as a savings bank clerk. From 1985 to 1986 Hora was the commercial manager of the company SWE-Softwareentwicklungges.mbH, in 1987 the head of the Vienna branch of REX Handelsgesellschaft mbH and in 1987 he was employed by the Wiener Stadthalle , where he stayed until 1992. From 1991 he worked there as head of the IT department. In 1996 he was also the general attorney of Wiener Veranstaltungsservice Ges.mbH, in 1997 deputy profit center manager of the event service department and was an independent IT consultant from April 2007 to 2009.

From 2007 Hora was a member of the board of directors and supervisory boards of several Austrian housing companies , such as Sozialbau AG .

politics

From 1996 Hora was a district councilor in Leopoldstadt and in 2001 moved to the Vienna state parliament and local council. Between 2006 and 2010 he held the office of chairman of the municipal council committee for urban development and transport. As the transport and planning spokesman for his parliamentary group (until the end of 2012), his political focus was on planning and urban development, transport, housing and technology.

Within the party, he was district secretary in this district between 2000 and 2007 and between 1996 and 2001 a member of the board of the SPÖ Vienna-Leopoldstadt. Since 2007 he was again a member of the board of the SPÖ Leopoldstadt. District head since April 2013. In October 2009 he took over the function of the state secretary of the Vienna Pensioners' Association, and from 2009 he was also chairman of the Vienna allotment garden advisory board.

Private

Karlheinz Hora was married. He had a son and a daughter. He died of cancer on August 4, 2017. He was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .
