Karlheinz Ospelt

Karlheinz Ospelt (born September 11, 1961 in Chur ) is a Liechtenstein politician (VU).

biography

Ospelt attended elementary school and high school in Vaduz . He then studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen from 1981 to 1985, where he obtained his licentiate degree ( lic. Oec. HSG ). From 1987 to 1992 he worked in a fiduciary office, where he was a partner, a member of the board of directors and management. In 1992 Ospelt finally founded his own company and worked as an independent auditor until 1995. He also acted as a board member of the Association of Auditors.

From 1986 to 1993 Ospelt was a full judge at the Administrative Complaints Authority (VBI). From February 1993 to 2001 he sat for the Fatherland Union (VU) as a member of the state parliament of the Principality of Liechtenstein . In this role, he was a member of the Finance Committee and President of the Audit Committee.

In January 1995 he ran for the Fatherland Union in the mayoral election in Vaduz and was the first candidate of this party to be elected to office. Ospelt replaced the previous mayor Arthur Konrad, who had held the office since 1980. He was re-elected in 1999 and 2003. In the mayoral election in 2007 he did not run again. Ewald Ospelt from the Progressive Citizens' Party (FBP) became the new mayor . Karlheinz Ospelt now withdrew from active politics.
