Karlheinz Pech (born March 8, 1933 in Niedereinsiedel ) is a German historian .

Pech initially worked as a railroad worker. In 1946 he became a member of the FDJ and the SED. From 1950 to 1961 he was an officer in the German People's Police and the National People's Army . From 1965 he studied at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig and completed his studies as a graduate teacher for Marxism-Leninism . He then worked as a research assistant and since 1972 as deputy sector leader at the Institute for Marxism-Leninism at the Central Committee of the SED . He received his doctorate in 1973. phil. He was co-editor and co-author of the multi-volume history of Germany in World War II . In 1987 he was appointed full professor for the history of the German labor movement at the Institute for the History of the Labor Movement and retired on December 31, 1990. From 1983 Pech was a member of the International Society for Exile Research . Together with Helga Meyer (* 1936) he wrote the book Under Use of Life! Anti-fascist resistance in the last months of the second world war (1985).
