Karlhof (municipality of Deutsch Jahrndorf)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Karlhof is a Meierhof in Deutsch Jahrndorf in the Small Pannonian Plain in Burgenland .

description

Archduke Friedrich owned extensive estates in Hungary near the then Austrian border, including the Karlhof. After Burgenland was separated from Hungary in 1921, the manor came to Austria and since then has had the easternmost building in Austria. During the Second World War , plants for the textile industry were supposed to be grown here, which is why detailed investigations were made in advance as the basis for irrigating the agricultural areas. Today hydroponics are grown on the estate .

In 1855 several Celtic gold and silver coins with Boischen names were found on the estate , which are now in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and in the History Museum in Budapest. In the 1980s, tools and sculptures from Roman times were found during excavations .
