Carnatic Wars

The Karnatic Wars (also: Karnataka Wars ) were British - French colonial wars in India . Some of them took place as part of a Silesian War (1740–1763).

Most of the fighting took place in the Carnatic region, which during colonial times was the area between the Eastern Ghats and the Coromandel Coast in what is now the state of Tamil Nadu . The name should not be confused with today's state of Karnataka .
