The Third Carnatic War (also: Third Carnatic War ) was a 1756 to 1763 in India being transmitted colonial war between the Kingdom of Great Britain and France . Most of the fighting took place in the Karnatik region, which during colonial times was the area between the Eastern Ghats and the Coromandel Coast in the north of what is now the state of Tamil Nadu .
It began in 1756 when the Seven Years' War broke out in Europe . The British took the most important French city, Pondichéry, in 1761. The war, and with it France's ambitions in India, ended with the Peace of Paris in 1763 .
