Karol Aída Cariola Oliva (born April 1, 1987 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean graduate of gynecology, former president of the Federación de Estudiantes de la Universidad de Concepción (student association of the Universidad de Concepción ) and general secretary of the Communist Youth of Chile ( Juventudes Comunistas de Chile ), JJCC. The JJCC is the youth organization of the Communist Party of Chile. JJCC has over 5000 members and a nationwide presence. Many outstanding figures in Chile's cultural history such as Pablo Neruda , Violeta Parra and Victor Jara have also been members of the JJCC.

After Gladys Marín , Karol Cariola is the second woman to have been appointed General Secretary of the JJCC.

In February 2012 she traveled with the leader of the Chilean student protests, Camila Vallejo , and the member of the board of directors of the metal workers' union CONSTRAMET, Jorge Murúa, through various European countries to see the protests of Chilean students for reforms in the education system and the development of the protest movement that resulted from it to make known.
