Karol Koziolek

Karol Koziołek (born March 1, 1856 in Ottmuth ; † December 8, 1938 ) was a Polish Roman Catholic priest and activist in Opole , president of the Association of Poles in Germany (ZPwN), member of the parliament of Opole (1928–1932 ).

From 1868 to 1877 he attended high school in Opole and then went to Breslau to study theology and philosophy . In 1880 he founded the Towarzystwo Studentów Górnoślązaków. In 1882 he was enrolled at the seminary in Regensburg and ordained a priest a year later. In 1890 he received the rectory in Wola near Pszczyna , and from 1897 until his retirement in 1934 he worked in the municipality of Grabine near Prudnik .

After the partition of Silesia in 1922, he stayed in the western part, where he was a co-founder of the Polish Catholic People's Party. With the postal vote in 1928 he was elected as one of three Polish members of the Assembly in the Opole district. He held the mandate until 1932. From 1930 to 1935 he was President of the Union of Poles in Germany . In the 1930s director of the Polish school in Grabine . On February 5, 1936, he was elected Honorary President of the Union of Poles in Germany . In 1931 he initiated a petition to Reich Chancellor Heinrich Brüning . The rights in the Silesian Opole should remain Polish.

He retired in 1934 and spent the rest of his life with his family in Ottmuth.
