Karol Pękala

Karol Pękala (born October 26, 1902 in Siołkowa , Poland , † August 14, 1968 in Sozopol , Bulgaria ) was auxiliary bishop in the Tarnów diocese from 1946 to 1968.

Life

After studying theology in Tarnów , Pękala was ordained a priest in 1928. In 1933 he became director of the Catholic Action . Pękala became director of the newly established Caritas Association in 1937 and received his doctorate in 1939 with a thesis on Caritas we współczesnej pracy duszpasterskiej (Caritas in current pastoral care). In 1947 he was ordained titular bishop of Trocmades in the Cathedral of Tarnów by Bishop Jan Stepa and was auxiliary bishop in Tarnów until his death in 1968. He found his final resting place in the crypt of the Church of Our Lady of Fatima in Tarnów.
