Karpi ( Greek Κάρπη ( f. Sg. )) Is a local community of the municipality of Peonia in the northern Greek region of Central Macedonia . According to the 2011 census, Karpi had 369 inhabitants.
location
The village of Karpi is located on the northeastern foothills of the Paiko Mountains ( Πάικο Όρος Paiko Oros ) on a ridge 430 to 460 meters above sea level. The two rivers Stavropotamos southwest and Megalo Potamos northeast of the village drain east to the Axios . The local community of Karpi extends over 58.425 km² in the west of the municipality of Peonia. The Stavropotamos forms the border to the neighboring towns to the south and south-west. The terrain rises to the northwest and reaches the Kandasti ( Καντάστι ) with 1607 meters, the highest elevation in the area of the local community. In the north is the Metallio reservoir ( Τεχνητή λίμνη Μεταλλείου ). Goumenissa is about 5 km southeast, the municipality of Polykastro 12 km east.
history
Since the 15th century there have been four settlements in the vicinity that were privileged areas during the Turkish period . These later united to form the village of Tserna Reka because of repeated attacks by Turkish gangs. The townscape is dominated by buildings that have been built since the 1950s. Because of its architecture and the typical interior decoration as an important testimony to the history of the 19th century, the church of Agios Athanasios was designated as a monument. The inhabitants live mainly from growing cereals and tobacco and from fruit trees.

administration
After the recognition as an independent rural community Tserna Reka ( Κοινότητα Τσέρνα Ρέκα ) of the prefecture of Pella in 1919, the incorporation into the prefecture of Thessaloniki followed in 1924 and in 1926 the renaming of the Slavic name Tserna Reka ( Τσέρνα Ρέκα , Black Karpá). In 1935 Karpi came to Kilkis Prefecture . The incorporation into the municipality of Goumenissa was carried out as part of the municipality reform in 1997 . Through the amalgamation of four municipalities and a rural municipality to form the new municipality of Peonia in the course of the 2010 administrative reform , Karpi received the status of a local community ( Τοπική Κοινότητα Topikí Kinótita ) in the municipality of Goumenissa.
