Karsten Ruppert

Karsten Ruppert (born December 14, 1946 in Bad Bergzabern ) is a German historian .

Karsten Ruppert graduated from high school in 1966 and from 1967 studied history, German, philosophy and education at the University of Bonn . In 1972 the state examination in history and German took place. From 1972 to 1977 he was a research assistant at the "Association for Research into Modern History e. V. “in Bonn. In 1977 he received his doctorate from Konrad Repgen in Bonn with a thesis on imperial politics at the Westphalian Peace Congress (1643–1648). From 1978 to 1985 Ruppert was a research assistant to Rudolf Morsey at the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer. From 1988 to 1990 Ruppert worked as a scientific librarian. In 1990 he completed his habilitation in Karlsruhe. Ruppert had deputy professorships for modern history at the Technical University of Braunschweig , the University of Jena , the University of Karlsruhe , the Technical University of Chemnitz and the University of Regensburg . From October 1995 until his retirement in 2012 he taught as the successor to Heinz Hürten as Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the Catholic University of Eichstätt .

His main research interests are politics and international relations, parties, political associations and association history, political ideas, ideologies, legal and constitutional history, political systems, the judiciary, the police, and administrative and institutional history.
