Heinz Hürten

Heinz Hürten (born February 24, 1928 in Düsseldorf ; † January 6, 2018 in Münster ) was a German historian .

Life

Heinz Hürten studied history and Catholic religion in Münster and received his doctorate in 1955 . He then worked at the Bundeswehr School for Inner Guidance in Koblenz, the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and in the Münster diocese in adult education and as the deputy director of the Social Academy. In 1970 he completed his habilitation and taught from 1972 to 1977 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg.

Heinz Hürten was an examiner in modern and modern history and from 1977 a full professor at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt . After the university was rededicated to a university in 1980, he was the first dean of the Faculty of History and Social Sciences and from 1982 until his retirement in 1993 he was Vice President of the KU Eichstätt. After the resignation of the then KU President Rudolf Mosis , he held the interim management of the university between 1983 and 1984 - until the election of President Nikolaus Lobkowicz . He was a member of the Görres Society .

Heinz Hürten lived with his wife Maria in the Ingolstadt district of Gerolfing and since June 2017 in Münster.

Act

Hürten was considered one of the most renowned and internationally best-known scientists in the field of Catholicism research. To this end, he wrote numerous works and writings.
