Karsten Woldeit (* 1975 in Iserlohn ) is a German politician of the Alternative for Germany (AfD).

Life

Woldeit is a master automotive technician and worked as a professional soldier for the German armed forces . He is deputy chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives and deputy spokesman for the district association of his party in Lichtenberg. After the election to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2016 , he moved into the Berlin House of Representatives . He is the domestic policy spokesman for his parliamentary group and a member of the main committee. Woldeit was previously a member of the CDU . At the state party conference on November 4, 2017, he was elected deputy chairman of the AfD Berlin .

Since July 14, 2017, Woldeit has been deputy chairman of the 1st committee of inquiry in the 18th electoral term of the Berlin House of Representatives. The committee of inquiry deals with the possible failure of the authorities in the terrorist attack on Breitscheidplatz .

At the beginning of June 2017, the Berlin Regional Court contradicted one of two preliminary injunctions regarding his alleged participation in the Berlin Pegida offshoot, Bärgida. The court shared the opinion of Kevin Hönicke ( SPD ) that he could have had the impression that Woldeit was a participant. Woldeit announced via Twitter that he wanted to take action against this judgment.

Woldeit is the father of three daughters.
