Carthaginian religion
The Carthaginian religion is essentially based on that of its founders, the Phoenicians , with their gods, who show the transition from nature god to city god. Even the name Hannibal (" Baal is gracious "), the most famous Carthaginian, points to the Phoenician god Ba'al . He was especially worshiped as Baal-Hammon (" Ba'al of heat ", possibly a sun god).
