Manfred Lurker

Manfred Lurker (* 1928 in Zweibrücken , † 1990 in Bühl ) was a German secondary school teacher, private scholar and internationally recognized symbol researcher.

biography

After studying to be a teacher at the Lörrach Pedagogical Academy and after having worked professionally, Lurker was the founding editor of the international "Bibliography on Symbolism, Iconography and Mythology" from 1968 to 1980, which is still published by Valentin Koerner Verlag in Baden-Baden with the help of numerous specialist scholars. In 1970 he was a founding member of the Society for Scientific Symbol Research in Cologne . From 1974 he was deputy chairman of the research group for symbolism in Salzburg .

Scientific work

In addition to studies on the semantics and semiotics of individual cultural, artistic or natural symbols, Manfred Lurker wrote handbooks and lexicons on overarching groups of meaning. His monographs and manuals have been translated into numerous languages ​​around the world.
