Michiko Kashiwabara ( Japanese 柏 原 理 子 , Kashiwabara Michiko ; born March 14, 1991 in Hakuba ) is a Japanese cross-country skier .

Career

After attending the Hakuba Middle School, Michiko Kashiwabara switched to the ski sports-focused Iiyama -Minami High School, 50 km away , before starting her studies at Waseda University in May 2009 .

Since 2007 Kashiwabara has mainly competed in the Far East Cup. So far she has won six and won the overall standings in the 2010/11 season . In the 2011/12 and 2014/15 seasons she took third place overall. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , she reached 45th place in the sprint and seventh place in the relay. She ran her first World Cup race in February 2009 in Valdidentro , which she finished with 59th place in the sprint. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she finished 60th over 10 km freestyle and eighth place with the relay. The 53rd place over 10 km classic and the tenth place with the relay she achieved at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo . At the 2011 Asian Winter Games , she won silver in the relay. At the Nordic Opening 2012 in Kuusamo , she took 68th place and 74th place in 2013.
