Kaspar von Vonbühl (also Kaspar von Fahnbühl ; * before 1490 , † after 1548 ) was a mayor of St. Gallen ( Switzerland ).

Life

Kaspar von Vonbühl was the son of Heinrich von Vonbühl.

From 1508 to 1512 he was the weavers' guild master in St. Gallen. During this time he was given command of the St. Gallen Army in 1511, which undertook mercenary campaigns for Pope Julius II in the southern foothills of the Alps ( Holy League ); for unknown reasons he was then replaced at short notice as military leader .

In 1514 he was elected mayor of the city of St. Gallen. He developed into the political opponent of Joachim Vadian after he was elected to the city council of St. Gallen in 1520. He was deposed as mayor in 1524 without further information and in 1527 excluded from any further official activities in the city.

Kaspar von Vonbühl married Cleophea, daughter of Franziskus Zili.
